Hi Marc @VRIL, thank you providing an update on your experience, as that is the experience that most customers have with us at Borderoo. To answer your question, we are not subject to sales tax because we do business in a state that is sales tax exempt. This helps us keep the pricing down which is extremely helpful. For VAT, our shipping carrier (typically FedEx, sometimes DHL) calculates that into our shipping costs, which are then relayed to the customer as part of the pricing quote. Microsoft/Samsung/Amazon do not charge us VAT upon purchase because they are still shipping to a United States location (our warehouse), so the products are staying domestic in that transaction. I hope this helps explain this process more. I encourage anyone to ask questions as we are happy to provide more detail about our processes. Thanks again, Josh Stevens
Borderoo seitzt in Florida, deshalb muss man keine Steuern zahlen.
@Josh @nullptr thank you for the explanation, very interesting. Sounds like Florida is kind of paradise for buying things. @Borderoo Now we are waiting for the FedEx invoice with the import taxes in Germany, which is 19% on net. value of goods. With the FedEx invoice we could then follow up, how the Samsung Odyssey was declared for custom clearance. What I´ve missed, when received the carton was a proper invoice from Borderoo. I think that there was no invoice as well resulted in some problems, which David has to face at the Moment, in the way that at a point on the shipping process the carton was opened and checked. It might have been avoided, if there would have been an invoice outside on the carton on which the customs approval could identify the Content and check back with the data on their electronic customs System. A proper invoice from Borderoo which accompanies the carton ( there are these plastic envelopes, where it could be put in and sticked outside on the carton ) is absolutely recommendable and could avoid problems or extra checks on the cartons due to the custom clearance process. In the invoice should be noted Borderoo as Reseller and the customer as receiver. As well as the net. value of goods in order to calculate the 19% import tax in Germany. The freight charges and Service fee should not be included in this invoice, as they will raise the import tax we have to pay. But it could be also valid, if you put separately on the invoice a clearly visible note, in which you declare the *net. value of goods 399,- $ for customs clearance only*. Also the right commody Code ( H.S. Code ) for the shipped goods should be mentioned in the invoice, so the customs get to know what´s inside by reading the invoice outside of the carton and don´t need to open it. More better would be, if you could check back with FedEx to deliver with terms of delivery DDP ( delivered duty paid ), which would save the customers in Germany another 20 bucks, which FedEx charges for paying the Import taxes to German customs. If you ship with Terms of delivery DDP, the Import tax in Germany might be paid directly to Borderoo in advanced ( 19% of 399,- $ ) and charged by FedEx to Borderoo together with the freight charges. If that is possible, we don´t get an invoice in Germany from FedEx ( with extra fee from fedEx ) as it is already paid to Borderoo and forwarded to FedEx with their freight charges. Another proposals for saving some bucks is through Transferwise instead of PayPal. For small amounts up to .1000,- Euro the fee of Transferwise is very low. Just checked and for 500,- Euros it´s only 2,- Euro fee for the transfer instead of 4% of total value with PayPal. Transferwise is very easy to use and it takes in regular 24 hours until the amount is credited to any account worldwide. Just a few proposals, if you like to check and consider I´m sure you could make a complete offer for the Samsung Odyssey to the German community, which beats all the other competitors. And if you be present for cutsomer service with the community of VRForum you can´t be closer to your customers for the advantage of both sides. For the delivery time I got fully understanding that you got a young and developing company. I don´t care for a few days more or less, as long as you could meet the expectation.
Hi Marc @VRIL, Thank you for these suggestions! I will certainly review with our team here to see if it is possible to deliver with terms DDP and also look into the potential for using Transferwise as an alternative to PayPal. You are correct that this would help both Borderoo and our customers. As far as declared values are concerned, we do declare each headset at USD $399 and this should be fully visible for customs clearance. It is possible that my shipping team only declared USD $399 for David's combined two headset shipment (which might have caused his situation), but I will have to investigate further to confirm or deny. If FedEx or customs ever needs additional verification of Borderoo invoicing (we have only heard about this happening a small number of times), customers typically provide a copy of the PayPal invoice and everything goes smoothly from there. Again, I am here to answer any questions and earn the trust of the VRForum. Please do not hesitate to ask more questions or engage in discussion! We want to make sure that we are providing a customer experience that is satisfactory to all. Regards, Josh Stevens
You´re very welcome! just another thing to mention, the VRForum is a non-commercial UserForum and we´re already very close to make publicity for Borderoo. For keeping up the good tone, please get in touch with Marcus or Solkutter to get their agreement for service activities in the forum. Both are Admins here and very nice guys to talk to. Maybe you could offer an exclusive discount for VRForum members only on to your service charges. In anyway it´s great to have you here for requests on the shipping process. Greetings, Marc
Hi Marc, This is great news! I would be happy to discuss with @Marcus or @SolKutTeR either within this forum or through our email at info@borderoo.com. We will offer a discount code to VRForum members as long as it is approved by the admins. It is the least we can do for customers like yourselves who are extremely passionate about VR. Let me know! Regards, Josh
Also alles hat perfekt mit Boederoo funktioniert. in english for Josh: As posted here: https://vrforum.de/threads/sammelthread-samsung-odyssey.6215/page-6 on January 21th, I have successfully imported a Samsung Odyseey with Borderoo. The payment of the import tax was managed without any problems or delay by FedEx (the bill from FedEx arrived a few days after the package). The Package from Borderoo was very well packed. It came with a big brown extra box with Air-Plastic-Pads around the Samsung Odyssey box. In the big brown box was a little card with greetings from the service-personell from MYUS.com who repacked the package. Sorry, I can't remember the name, but he/she did a good job! The Samsung Box was originally packed, everything was fine and undamaged. So all I can say is that everything worked fine with Borderoo.
Thank you very much for the update @CmdSnake! Glad to hear about another successful delivery. And thank you again to everyone for having an open dialogue with me. Have a great day! Regards, Josh
